![]() This is the movie trying to show that the foods in the movie are representing humans in real life and that humans in the movie is god in real life. There is also a different representation that the movie also tries to show by making the foods call humans “Gods”. The church and the believers of Christianity would be all the characters who are unaware of the what the truth is and is still devote to the belief that the Great Beyond is a place of happiness and that you can only be taken by the humans who they consider as gods. ![]() Frank who once figured out the truth of the Great Beyond tries to convince everyone that the Great Beyond is nothing but “baloney”. The similarity between this real-life example and the theme of the movie is uncanny. What if the church has ulterior motives and just wants the power to control the people. ![]() How do we have any guarantee that the church isn’t using “god” and “heaven” as an incentive to make others to their biddings. We can only take their word for it and those who have strong belief in Christianity wouldn’t think twice to doubt the popes. How do we even know that the leaders of the church are those that can really hear the voice of god or have visions of him. The only way to avoid hell is to get yourself together and “obey” god and his messengers/ the church ( 39). Only humans are at fault for making the mistakes and going down the wrong path giving god no other option but to send us to hell. However, if you are send here it is not god’s fault only ours. Christianity created a system where if you “disobey” god you will be sent to the Hell the realm of Satan where you will be in the flames of pain for eternity. Majority of the time, you are also taught to never question him because of something known as hell. You are taught from the beginning that God loves you and that you should always trust god. One of the strong principles of Christianity is the belief of that you should never question god for god has already created you with love and made your life destined and you shouldn’t question any of his judgements. Christianity’s belief and the its principles raises more questions to life then it brings answers ( 1). This shows the contradiction of the Christians belief. Just like how the foods had no clue that they were just being brought together to be consumed by the “gods”. That we as humans don’t have enough knowledge about “heaven” so we have no idea what will happen to us when humans do pass away. ![]() The movie is trying to show that blind belief of the concept of eternal happiness and only happiness is unreal. I believe that it is a representation about religious dogmas specifically the belief of God and Christianity. This can represent many kinds of dogmas however, because it is talking about the belief in the “Great Beyond” and the humans to take them there. However, the truth is that the foods being chosen meant certain death for them by being consumed by humans as their energy source. The movie opens with all the foods in Grocery store singing and praising the Great Beyond as if being chosen by the humans was the greatest and only achievement in their life that could possibly be achieved (Hunter, Kyle). The Great Beyond is an equivalent to Heaven in the human world.
